Central Anatolia
The high plateau, and the deepest well of Anatolian weaving. Coarse hand-spun wool, madder-red fields and the brocaded cicim work of Karapınar, drawn from a motif vocabulary inherited from the Seljuk workshops of the 13th century.
Cappadocian Border
Village looms at the foot of Hasan Dağı. Bright, tightly drawn slit-tapestry kilims — stepped medallions on madder grounds, framed by black bands of hourglass motifs.
Eastern Highlands
Long winters and dark palettes. Banded flatweaves and ram's-horn kilims in aubergine, oxblood and forest green, lifted by a single band of chamomile yellow.
Upper Euphrates
Wide kilims woven in two halves on a narrow loom and stitched at the spine. Star medallions on charcoal, inside a running-dog border in undyed ivory.
Erciyes Foothills
Both worlds at once: the wrapped-weft zili covers of the Yörük camps, and the fine knotted pile of the Bünyan workshops with their celadon fields and floral borders.
