AKK-01 · Karapınar
AKK-01An ivory lattice carries a full spectrum of madder, indigo and walnut diamonds, each one brocaded by hand over the ground weave. The dark goat-hair fringe is original and untouched.
AKK-02A classic mihrab niche framed in madder red, with an aubergine field, a green spandrel and a tree-of-life column rising through the centre. Woven in one piece on a village loom.
AKK-03Two stepped green medallions on a deep madder ground, bordered by a black band of yellow, teal and rose hourglass motifs. A small, bright piece for an entry or a wall.
AKK-04The same stepped-medallion vocabulary drawn out over four repeats, made for a long hallway. Turquoise weft accents run through the fringe at both ends.
AKK-05Bands of paired ram's-horn motifs shift from forest green through saffron to violet and crimson across a near-black ground. The saw-tooth ivory border is drawn freehand and never quite repeats.
AKK-06A quiet, undyed piece: fine walnut and oak-gall stripes wrapped row upon row, with heavy hand-twisted fringe on two sides. Originally a nomadic hearth cover.
AKK-07An unusual eight-sided format with a celadon field, ivory cartouche and a stepped central medallion. Fine floral borders and a soft, even pile throughout.
AKK-08Woven in two halves and joined at the spine, as tradition requires. Scarlet and teal star medallions float on a charcoal ground inside a running-dog border in undyed ivory.
AKK-09A dense field of interlocking diamonds in madder, olive and aubergine, each centred on a small saffron tree-of-life. Bright rose highlights mark a later dye lot woven in by hand.
AKK-10Pure banding — aubergine, oxblood and forest green stripes interrupted by three lines of small ivory beads and two bands of clear chamomile yellow. Woven in two panels, joined down the middle.
A photograph flattens a kilim. This short film follows the pile and the flatweave as the light crosses them — the small irregularities in the beat of the weft, the shift in colour where a dye lot ended and a new one began.
